It’s gotta be the shoes!
Such a simple statement and such a simple presentation. They both stick with you, too. You have Spike Lee asking Michael Jordan what makes him so great. Is it his extra-long shorts? His socks? Is it his shoes? The shoes? The shoes? It’s just gotta be the shoes!
Although Michael keeps denying this statement, you can’t help but notice the fact that the ad shows the shoes numerous times while saying that “It’s gotta be the shoes.” It even says that Nike doesn’t necessarily agree with Michael’s views, meaning that it must be the shoes.
Everyone who saw this ad had to wonder, was it the shoes? Could it be the shoes? If I bought those shoes, could I be like Michael Jordan? Every kid wanted a pair of Air Jordans with that idea in mind. (Remember when “Annie” met ESPN in Like Mike?)
So the question is: is it the shoes or is it just good advertising?
